SDRA Fireworks No doubt many of you have been wondering, given the Total Fire Ban presently in place for Addington Highlands, whether or not we will be able to hold our annual fireworks show on August 30th. Our supplier, Capital Pyrotechnics of Ottawa, advise us that they are in contact with the Addington Highlands fire chief, from whom a permit for the show must be obtained. Essentially, if the fire ban is still in place, the permit will not be granted. This approach is in fact a function of a Township bylaw, and therefore a variance is unlikely and indeed not adviseable under the current conditions.
Hopefully the rainfall earlier this week will have had a beneficial effect, and hopefully we will receive more rain over the next few days. We have until August 28th to reach a decision – our supplier is happy to work with us on alternatives if necessary. We will be in touch with you again later next week on the status quo.
