** SDRA FIREWORKS ————————————————————
** Following up on our POP of last Thursday, we are unfortunately not going to be able to proceed with our annual Labour Day Fireworks Show on Saturday. The hoped-for significant rainfall has not materialized, and the Township of Addington Highlands has not yet seen fit to lift the full fire ban imposed back on August 8^th. Accordingly, at this point our fireworks supplier Capital Pyrotechnics is unable to obtain a permit from the fire chief to produce the show.
Rather than attempt to schedule an alternative date this year, when many participating member families may not be present at the lake and many boats may have been stored away for the winter, with the agreement of our supplier we have elected to postpone the show until September 5^th next year. While this outcome is certainly disappointing, we are all well aware of how dry the forests and soils are this year and how careful everyone must be to minimize the risk of any wildfire in this area.
