** Bible Island Clean Up

** As discussed at the AGM the SDRA has been working closely with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to address crown land camping concerns. Similar to a number of previous years, we have seen violations such of people overstaying the 21 day limit, leaving camp equipment on sites to hold locations, excessive noise, fire ban and firework violations and large amounts of garbage left at the sites.
The MNR has been much more active on the lake and has been dealing with reported issues, including talking directly to many causing issues. In addition, last week they came to the Bible Island campsites and did a full clean up, including tearing down structures and removing large amounts of tables, chairs, tarps and garbage. Both Bible Island sites are now very clean.
Dealing with camping issues is always a challenge but MNR has supported the lake this year. As always, anyone noticing any violations such as overstaying camping time limits or if you have any concerns you should continue to report them to the appropriate authorities.
