Membership

Membership in the Association … is open to “all property owners on and adjacent to Sheldrake, Skootamatta and Pringle lakes”.

Every year, our lake community comes together in a simple but powerful way by becoming members of the association or renewing your membership. At $45 for a basic membership, it’s one of the easiest ways to make a meaningful impact on the place we all care about. Your contributions directly support lake stewardship initiatives that monitor and protect water quality and lake health, tackle invasive species like Eurasian Watermilfoil and advance important projects which sustain our fisheries. They also strengthen our work in land, forestry, and wildlife stewardship by collaborating with local partners and agencies to ensure responsible management of the surrounding forests, shorelines, and habitats needed to protect our environment.

Just as importantly, your support builds community. From our Annual General Meeting and lake festivals to potlucks, your membership helps create opportunities for neighbours to meet, learn, and enjoy the lake together. We keep you informed on issues that impact your property and lake experience with direct emails (POPs) and social media updates on important topics. It also gives our association a stronger, unified voice when working with local councils and organizations. Your SDRA membership automatically makes you a member of the Federation of Ontario Cottage Associations (FOCA) the “voice for cottage associations” and an amazing resource on multiple topics, seminars and perks.

When you join or renew, you’re not just signing up, you’re investing in the health of the lake, the strength of the community, and the experiences we all value.

For those who wish to give a little more, there are additional ways to contribute such as the Lake Stewardship Fund, the fireworks extravaganza and the local FoodBank.

We are also very fortunate that, due to a generous offer of support from a number of our local businesses, we are able to sustain our base fee of $35 this year and continue to offer our standard fireworks show. Many members expressed their willingness to pay $55 so we have made this option available as well. The more dollars in our fireworks fund, the better we can make the show! Your generous donation to the Lake Stewardship Fund helps support our work to keep our lake healthy and our fisheries sustained for future generations
