** SDRA Stewardship Fund and Milfoil Mitigation Update – Seeking Cinder Block Donations for Marker Buoys:
Many thanks to those SDRA members who attended the 2025 Annual General Meeting, and so quickly and generously donated to our new “SDRA Stewardship Fund”. We are grateful to have so many caring and passionate members!
In response, the Board has taken immediate action and has ordered additional Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) marker buoys and rope to better highlight sensitive, high risk locations and to discourage boat traffic in and adjacent to large milfoil colonies. The two key EWM colonies of greatest concern to the Board at present are those situated South of Bible Island and North of the public boat launch on the upper lake.
The most expensive part of marking and protecting large EWM colonies are the concrete (cinder) blocks used to hold the markers in place. Many at the AGM noted they were willing to donate old or surplus cinder blocks they no longer needed.
The Board is keenly interested in acquiring any old, surplus cinder blocks or deck blocks you are willing to donate to a very worthy cause. They do need to be in reasonable shape so we can tie to them and they will not break while in the water.
Please reach out to the Board by emailing us at with your name and location and we would be happy to reply and make arrangements to pick them up.
Many thanks for your consideration and support of this very timely and important lake stewardship effort.
We are all lake stewards and together can make a huge difference conserving our lake, and the way of life we love and cherish.
Thank you and safe boating.
