SDRA POP – Lake Level Update

SDRA Lake Level Update Quinte Conservation’s Annual Fall Drawdown
Quinte Conservation recently announced their annual Fall drawdown of headwater lakes within their watershed jurisdiction that includes Skootamatta Lake.
Drawdown operations are scheduled to begin the morning of Tuesday, October 14th, immediately after the Thanksgiving weekend, and continue throughout the week.
What does this mean for Skootamatta boaters, cottagers and residents?
While the lake is already well below seasonal levels, we expect lake levels to recede by an additional 8-12 inches. This may impact those with boats still on lifts and parked at private docks or at the Trails End wharf.
All three public boat launches are fully functional, but additional care should be taken when operating in near shore areas to reduce boat wakes that can cause increased erosion to exposed shorelines and sensitive areas.
Lake hazards such as stumps, shoals, sandbars and invasive EWM (Eurasian Water Milfoil) weedbeds are all more exposed and warrant additional consideration and care while boating this Fall.
Thank you and Safe Boating.
