Obituary – Mike Shea

It is with utter and absolute sadness that I share the following news about my beloved father.
Michael Edward (Mike) Shea, age 77 of Toronto, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2022, with his wife Mary and daughters Kelly and Alison by his side. Born to Audrey Kelly and Edward Shea, Mike was a lifelong Toronto Beacher. He attended St. John’s Catholic School, Neil McNeil High School and St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and with his close friend and partner, Bob Durno, managed a successful law practice for more than forty years.

Mike was always at the centre of things, a fabulous organizer, tireless leader and always the life of the party. He loved golf, musicals, travel, and all the Toronto sports teams – especially his beloved Maple Leafs. Over the years, he coached minor hockey, served as president of Scarboro Golf Club and enjoyed many years with good friends at his second home at Wyndemere Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Mike was devoted to his large extended family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Mary Colleen, daughters Kelly Hughes (Rick), Alison Shea (Adam Whisler) and grandsons Sam, Max, Ben, Alex and Cole. He is also survived by his father (Edward) and siblings, Carol (Donald), John (Anna) and Cathy (Clyde) as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all he touched for his generosity, kindness, integrity, intelligence and quick wit.
