The Big Chair

We’ve recently heard about a great local project being undertaken by Tammy Whitelock. Many members will remember the large white Adirondack chair that first appeared out front of the Lazy Days Gift Shop. Built by Richard and Olive Hook, the chair stood for many years and was a tourist attraction. When Lazy Days closed, the chair was moved to Cloyne Village Foods. Since then, the old chair has fallen to disrepair, so Tammy has started a project to bring the chair back to the community.

While still in the planning stages, a rebuilding of the chair on the property of the Cloyne Pioneer Museum and Archives is in the works. John Todds will be designing the chair with input from community members. Fundraising will be undertaken, as needed, with the hopes of having the chair in place before the May long weekend. This could include a BBQ, so keep an eye out for communication about that. The chair will be made of cedar and will be power washed every year by Nate’s Power Washing.
